The Associate in Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) degree prepares students for the challenges of modern healthcare. The classroom instruction in nursing concepts, coupled with laboratory practice and clinical experience at area healthcare providers, ensures students are well-qualified to enter the nursing field. Graduates of the program will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination - RN (NCLEX-RN). Upon satisfactory completion of the examination and licensure by a State Board of Nursing, graduates are titled Registered Nurse (RN) and are ready to respond to the changing healthcare demands in a variety of settings.

Specific Admission Requirements for Program
The Nursing - ADN program at 兔子先生 has two (2) phases for its admission process, as well as specific requirements for each phase that must be met.
- Phase I: General Admission phase with two (2) options for admission. Those options are Option A and Option B.
- Phase II : Limited Access Admission phase requires an additional application for this phase upon completing Phase I. There are also additional requirements that must be met before starting Phase II. First qualified students are accepted into Phase II, and any applicant not accepted must reapply/resubmit their application for consideration to be admitted into the next class. Applicants must be at least 17-years old by the semester of admittance to NUR 101. (HGTC does not maintain a waitlist for future acceptance.)
Prior to enrolling in Phase I, you must do the following:
- Submit the and designate Nursing as your major on the application.
- Take the TEAS test if you have not taken it in the past two (2) years.
- Work with your advisor to select the right Phase I option for you. (Option A or Option B)
- Complete the meeting all requirements for your selected option. (Requirements are listed in the options.)
Prior to being enrolled in Phase II, you must do the following:
- Submit an application for acceptance into Phase II:
- Receive a Nursing program acceptance letter from the HGTC 兔子先生 Office. The letter will provide instructions and due dates for the Phase II requirements.
Phase I - General Admission for Nursing Pathway
OPTION A - Direct admission, no pre-requisite courses needed for acceptance.
This option is for students wanting to become a Registered Nurse (RN) but have NOT completed all nine (9) *Nursing General Education courses.
Student must satisfy the following requirements to be eligible to apply for Phase II through Phase I Option A:
- TEAS Score of 75 or above - valid for 2 years from date of testing. (Students may retest every 30 days.)
- Eligible to enroll in BIO 210, ENG 101 and MAT 110 or MAT 120. (Eligibility is as determined by reviewing SAT, ACT, placement test scores, or through Multiple Measures assessment, as determined by HGTC 兔子先生.)
- Possess a minimum GPA of 2.75 with a grade of "C" for the nine (9) *Nursing General Education courses.
OPTION B - Take pre-requisite (General Education) courses prior to admission.
This option is for students wanting to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and HAVE completed all nine (9) *Nursing General Education courses.
Student must meet the following criteria to be eligible for Phase II Option B:
- TEAS score of 65 or above - valid for 2 years from date of testing. (Students may retest every 30 days.)
- Have completed all nine (9) *Nursing General Education courses with a grade of a 鈥淐鈥 or better.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 for all nine (9) *Nursing General Education courses.
* Nursing General Education Courses: BIO 210, BIO 211, BIO 225, ENG 101, ENG 102, MAT 110 or MAT 120, PSY 201, SPC 205 and an approved Humanities course.
NOTE: BIO courses (BIO 210, 211, and 225) must be completed within a 5-year time limit at HGTC or within a 10-year time limit if you have a bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚 degree. MAT has a 10-year time limit.
Phase II - Limited Access Admission Nursing Program
Student requirements AFTER being accepted into Limited Access Admission Nursing
- Criminal Background Check**
- Urine Drug Screening**
- Submit a Health Sciences Division Student Health Record Form indicating the candidate can perform the physical tasks required in the program prior to enrollment in the first nursing course**.
- Complete and pass the General Hospital Orientation**.
- Proof of CPR certification for Health Care Providers prior to enrollment in the first nursing course and throughout curriculum.
- Payment of a non-refundable tuition deposit.
- Must be at least 17 years of age by the semester of admittance to Nursing 101.

- Other expenses for which you are responsible may include, but are not limited to:
purchasing scrubs, shoes, transportation to clinical sites, and Licensing Exam fees.
**Students should NOT complete these items until receiving official Nursing program acceptance email/letter from HGTC's admission office with due dates.
Students Progression Requirements After Enrolling in NUR courses
Once enrolled in the Limited Access Nursing program, to progress students must receive a minimum grade of "C" or better on all *Nursing General Education courses AND all NUR-prefixed courses.
