Student and Alumni Resources

Career and professional development is essential for overall success in the workplace. Knowing how to "sell" your skills and qualifications to an employer is the first step to the rest of your career. Students and Alumni can access Career Services to develop the necessary tools needed to be most competitive in your field.

Career services at HGTC helps prepare students for the real world by making sure they understand how to successfully write a resume, cover letter, and prepare for an interview. In my personal experience, doing a mock interview with Lauren was very beneficial for me as I have never had an interview before. It gave me a better understanding of what to expect in an interview and prepared me for upcoming interviews. Taking time to go over resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews with Lauren was very beneficial to me as I will graduate soon, and can be for other students too.

Resume and Cover Letters

Crafting a strong resume and cover letter is a vital step in your professional development, and we’re here to support you throughout the process.

Before scheduling an appointment, we encourage you to utilize these resources. We have provided comprehensive resume and cover letter tips and examples to help guide you in creating an effective document that highlights your skills and experiences.

If after reviewing these resources and drafting your resume or cover letter you still require assistance with the layout or content, use to have your resume reviewed by Career Services. Repeated reviews can consume valuable time that takes away from assisting other students and fulfilling other departmental responsibilities. Therefore, we kindly ask students to take the feedback provided during the review seriously and make the suggested revisions independently.
