In the Civil Engineering Technology degree program, students will learn to apply theory and principles of Civil Engineering Technology in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities under the direction of engineering staff.  Civil Engineering Technology graduates also have the option to continue their education by transferring to a senior institution and pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering . Program Mission, Goals & Outcomes

Mission/Purpose Statement:

The mission of the civil engineering technology program is to offer a strong academic and applications-based program necessary to produce well-educated graduates who become innovative and productive members of society. Students will possess both the problem-solving skills and the fundamental soft skills needed in the modern workplace. Additionally, students will be prepared to accept and succeed in an entry level position in field of civil engineering.

Goals:

Provide students with technical and interpersonal skills for problem solving in civil engineering profession.

Career Outlook

Graduates of the CET program are prepared to seek careers in the planning, design, and construction of roads, bridges, canals, dams, water and wastewater plants, and similar projects. Civil engineering technicians might be assigned to such duties as computer-aided drafting of construction and industrial drawings, writing specifications, estimating costs, inspecting construction jobs, and preparing surveys and maps.
