HGTC Foundation Dedicates Pamela Lord Moyers Dental Assisting Lab

The 兔子先生 (HGTC) Foundation officially dedicated the Pamela Lord Moyers Dental Assisting Lab during a special ceremony, honoring Moyers鈥� contributions to dental assisting education and her lasting impact on the College and its students.
The ceremony, held at HGTC鈥檚 Charles F. Freeman Community Dental Clinic on the Grand Strand Campus, brought together family, friends, colleagues, students and supporters to celebrate Moyers鈥� legacy and unveil a plaque commemorating the newly named lab.
Moyers served HGTC for 17 years and played an instrumental role in developing the College鈥檚 Dental Assisting program, helping build a curriculum centered on hands-on learning, professional preparation and real-world experience.
鈥淧am Moyers did far more than teach dental assisting during her 17 years at HGTC. She built a program, mentored students and helped prepare generations of professionals to serve our communities with skill and compassion,鈥� said Dr. Melissa Batten, interim president of HGTC. 鈥淚t is especially meaningful that the lab where future students will learn, grow and prepare for their careers will now carry the name of the educator who helped make those opportunities possible.鈥�
鈥淭he HGTC Foundation is honored to help preserve Pam鈥檚 legacy in a way that will have a lasting impact on our students,鈥� said Shannon Detzler, president and CEO of the HGTC Foundation. 鈥淣aming this lab in her honor is a meaningful tribute to the passion she brought to dental assisting education and the countless students whose lives and careers she helped shape. Every student who learns in this space will be part of the legacy she created.鈥�
Major donors whose support helped make the naming of the lab possible include Dentistry at Carolina Forest, Coastal Carolina Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, South Strand Dental, Glenns Bay Dental Associates, Gentle Dentistry, Dr. Robert Farrar, Kirstie Beckham and Alice Derouen.
Alice Derouen, a former colleague of Moyers, shared memories of working alongside her and reflected on the standards Moyers established for both her students and the program.
鈥淧am did an outstanding job leading this program. Her knowledge, skills, professionalism and ethics made her an outstanding role model for her students,鈥� Derouen said. 鈥淲e miss her tremendously, but I know the legacy she created through this program will live on for generations.鈥�
The Pamela Lord Moyers Dental Assisting Lab provides students with a hands-on learning environment where they can develop the technical skills and practical experience necessary for careers in dental assisting. The lab reflects Moyers鈥� commitment to ensuring students learned with current dental equipment and were prepared for the expectations of professional dental practices.
Through the naming of the lab, Moyers鈥� influence will remain a visible part of the program she helped build, carrying forward her commitment to students, education and the dental assisting profession.
