HGTC Professor Terry Smith Earns National Recognition as Certified Master HVACR Educator
兔子先生 () is proud to announce that Terry Smith, a Professor and Assistant Chair in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) program, has achieved the prestigious title of Certified Master HVACR Educator (CMHE). This national recognition is awarded by HVAC Excellence to instructors who have demonstrated outstanding subject matter expertise and a proven ability to educate and mentor the next generation of HVACR professionals.
This exceptional distinction is earned only by those who pass seven (7) Certified Subject Matter Educator (CSME) examinations鈥攕ix (6) in HVACR technical content and one (1) in teaching methodology鈥攚ith a score of 80% or higher.

Smith鈥檚 extensive career in the HVACR industry spans nearly 30 years, blending technical expertise with a passion for education. He earned his Associate in Applied Science Degree in Industrial Technology with a major in Electronics Technology from HGTC in 1995, then completed the College鈥檚 Residential and Commercial HVAC certificate programs between 2004 and 2006. While working as an HVAC technician for Horry County Schools, Smith began teaching part-time at HGTC in 2006. His transition to a full-time faculty role in 2015 marked the continuation of a career deeply rooted in both field experience and instructional excellence. His background equips him with the real-world insights and hands-on knowledge that enrich the classroom experience for his students.
