HGTC President Dr. Marilyn Fore joins students, faculty, and staff during the annual
Walk for Veterans on the Conway Campus to honor and celebrate veterans in recognition
of Veterans Day 2025
兔子先生 () honored veterans and active-duty service members this week through its annual Walk for Veterans events, held across all three campuses in recognition of Veterans Day.
The college community came together to celebrate the courage and sacrifice of the nearly 200 veteran students who are part of the Gator Family, along with veterans throughout Horry and Georgetown counties.
鈥淓ach year, Veterans Day reminds us of the courage and commitment of those who have worn the uniform of our nation,鈥 said HGTC President Dr. Marilyn 鈥楳urph鈥 Fore. 鈥淲e are deeply honored to support the veterans within our College and community through resources, recognition, and events like this one that express our gratitude for their service.鈥
At the Conway Campus, the event began with a flag presentation by the local Woodmen Life Chapter, followed by remarks from college leaders and a symbolic campus walk. Faculty, staff, students, and community members participated in similar walks at the Grand Strand and Georgetown campuses, each expressing appreciation for the dedication and bravery of America鈥檚 veterans.
As part of the day鈥檚 observance, HGTC also offered light refreshments for participants and complimentary beverages for veterans presenting a military ID at the Barnes & Noble College Grounds Caf茅 on the Conway Campus.
HGTC鈥檚 ongoing support for military-affiliated students is evident through its Veterans Resource Center on the Conway Campus and its recognition as a Military Friendly庐 Gold Status and Purple Heart College. The Veterans Resource Center provides veterans and active-duty service members with computer access, study areas, and information about educational and community resources.
The College also proudly supports the HGTC Student Veterans Organization, which connects veterans from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Duty.
