HGTC Collects Socks During Socktober Drive for Homeless

兔子先生 () is proud to announce the successful completion of the 2025 Socktober Sock Drive, hosted by the Barnes & Noble Caf茅 on the Conway Campus. Thanks to the generosity of students, faculty, staff, and caf茅 patrons, the college collected 524 new pairs of socks, surpassing this year鈥檚 goal by 24 pairs. All donated socks will support individuals experiencing homelessness, including veterans, through the Eastern Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO).
Throughout the month of October, members of the HGTC community were encouraged to drop off new socks at the Barnes & Noble Caf茅 as part of the national Socktober movement. The donations were delivered to ECHO in November in recognition of National Homelessness Awareness Month.

Our patrons, students, faculty, and staff truly embraced the spirit of giving.鈥�
ECHO works to break cycles of homelessness by providing housing solutions and support services across northeastern South Carolina. The organization serves individuals and families facing housing instability.
鈥淲e鈥檙e grateful to the students, faculty, and staff for collecting these socks for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. Something as simple as clean, warm socks can make a tough day a little easier,鈥� said Kelly Frech, community development specialist for ECHO.
The Socktober donation reflects the combined generosity of Barnes & Noble Caf茅 patrons and the students, faculty, and staff of HGTC.
