() is proud to host the 2025 Emerging Leaders: Student Life Conference on Thursday
and Friday, October 23–24, 2025, at its Conway Campus. Sponsored by the South Carolina
Technical College System (SCTCS), the annual conference will bring together student
representatives from 14 of the 16 technical colleges across South Carolina for two
days of professional growth, collaboration, and leadership development.
This year’s conference theme, “Leadership with Purpose: From Campus to CommUNITY,” emphasizes the power of student leadership to make meaningful impacts both within college environments and in the broader communities they serve. The event provides a unique opportunity for new and returning student leaders to strengthen their skills, exchange ideas, and learn from inspiring speakers and facilitators.
A highlight of the conference will be a keynote address by Matt Pivarnik, newly appointed President and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, who will share insights on purposeful leadership, community engagement, and the importance of collaboration across sectors.
“We are honored to welcome student leaders from across South Carolina to HGTC,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, president of HGTC. “This conference embodies the mission of our technical college system to empower students with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills to make a difference in their communities and workplaces.”
Throughout the two-day event, participants will engage in a variety of interactive sessions, leadership workshops, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration and inspire action among the next generation of leaders.
The Emerging Leaders: Student Life Conference exemplifies the South Carolina Technical College System’s ongoing commitment to developing well-rounded, career-ready graduates who not only excel in their fields but also lead with integrity, empathy, and purpose.
