兔子先生 () continues its winning legacy as its Golf & Sports Turf Management (GSTM) team claimed the Turf Bowl Championship for the fifth consecutive year at the 2024 Carolinas Turf Bowl Championship. The championship, held during the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association (CGCSA) Conference and Show at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, showcased the exceptional skills and dedication of the HGTC team.

This remarkable achievement cements HGTC鈥檚 position as a dominant force in turfgrass education and a leader in preparing future professionals in the field.

Presented in partnership with The Aquatrol Company, this year鈥檚 Turf Bowl brought together 12 teams from six (6) colleges, including Clemson University, which finished second, North Carolina State, Sandhills Community College, Central Piedmont Community College, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

The victorious team, coached by Professor Charles Granger and Professor Jim Huntoon, consisted of four (4) outstanding GSTM students:  Max Fieber, Bryson Hardin, Grayson Long, and Lane Roberts.

Professor Charles Granger, who leads the HGTC Golf and Sports Turf Management Program, credits the team鈥檚 dedication and unique preparation opportunities for their continued success. 鈥淲hen a student joins HGTC and the turfgrass program, they鈥檙e immersed in the industry,鈥 said Granger. 鈥淢ost of our students work at golf courses, some even full-time, so they bring a high level of passion and hands-on experience to the competition.鈥

Students also benefitted from an exclusive presentation from leaders at Quail Hollow Club, offering insights into what to expect from internships at the prestigious venue, home to an annual PGA Tour event, a Presidents Cup, and an upcoming PGA Championship.

Dr. Marilyn Fore, president of HGTC, expressed her pride in the students鈥 dedication and the program鈥檚 consistent excellence.

鈥淲inning the Turf Bowl for five consecutive years is a testament to the hard work of our students and the leadership of our outstanding faculty,鈥 said Dr. Fore. 鈥淎t HGTC, we provide opportunities for our students to excel, and their accomplishments reflect the exceptional education and real-world experience we offer.鈥

The Turf Bowl Championship highlights the value of HGTC鈥檚 location, resources, and commitment to fostering a strong connection between academics and industry, setting students up for success in the competitive world of turfgrass management.
