HGTC Reveals New Police Training Simulator
Students utilize advanced technology for training in the HGTC Criminal Justice Program.
兔子先生 (HGTC) is proud to announce a new police training simulator for the Associate in Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology program. The police training simulator provides students with the opportunity to experience scenarios in which they must analyze a situation and determine the appropriate lawful response. The advanced technology is being used by HGTC Criminal Justice students, including those in the Police Pre-Academy Training (PPAT) and officers from local law enforcement agencies.
The police training simulator is helping students make smarter and quicker decisions while preparing them for the real-world application. Realistic scenarios that may be faced in a Criminal Justice career are presented in real-time. Instructors are already utilizing the equipment and incorporating the simulator training into the coursework.
鈥淲e are very proud to be utilizing the latest simulator technology built on the requirement and ability to move realistically in a scenario. For example, scenarios are built using a library of scenes that make up the content for each screen and they branch, react, and play out as a single scenario. The 360 degrees 鈥渟hoot, don鈥檛 shoot鈥� experiences provided by the simulator allow students to be exposed to conditions that are as close as possible to real life without the potential of injury or death,鈥� said Dr. Daniel Wysong, HGTC Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean. 鈥淭hose skills can become the basis of the knowledge drawn upon when students become law enforcement officers. The simulator is also available for those already serving in the field and can provide additional training for local law enforcement agencies wanting to perfect certain skills.鈥�
Criminal Justice professors at HGTC are former or current law enforcement officers who served as patrol officers, investigators, command staff, and/or training officers who hold graduate degrees in criminal justice.
