McLeod Health Announces Continued Commitment to Grow Nursing Programs
Contribution will Support Nursing Education at 兔子先生
On November 28, McLeod Health expressed their continued commitment to nursing education
at 兔子先生 (HGTC). McLeod Loris Seacoast Chief Nursing
Officer Amanda Mills and McLeod Loris Seacoast Vice President of Patient Services Nancy Barnes
were on hand to present a $50,000 gift to 兔子先生.
鈥淲e are proud to give this gift to HGTC as we invest in our students, our employees,
and our community as they continue advancing educational opportunities,鈥 said Amanda
Mills.
鈥淲e have always taken great pride in working with Horry Georgetown in providing our
future surgical, laboratory, and radiology technicians and nurses in providing compassionate
care to our patients and families. McLeod Health is a growing facility with 7 facilities
and 85 physician practices, and we understand the importance of investing in education.鈥
鈥淥ur healthcare students, that includes nurses, surgical techs, pharmacy techs, radiologic
techs, physical therapy assistants, emergency medical techs/paramedics, etc., continue
to benefit from their clinical experiences at McLeod Loris Seacoast and now our nursing
staff will benefit from this substantial grant that affirms McLeod鈥檚 commitment to
professional excellence,鈥 said HGTC President Neyle Wilson. 鈥淗GTC鈥檚 partnership with
McLeod Health plays a significant role for the college, area physicians and the overall
quality of healthcare for our local residents.鈥
HGTC鈥檚 Department of Nursing offers the Associate in Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) degree prepares students for the challenges of modern healthcare. The classroom instruction that is provided in nursing concepts, coupled with laboratory practice and clinical experience at area healthcare providers, ensures that students are well-qualified to enter the field. A well-qualified nursing staff is essential for excellent healthcare.
鈥淪outh Carolina, along with the rest of the nation, has been dealing with a nursing deficit that is related to not only the aging population of our citizens, but also the aging population of the nursing workforce,鈥 said Christy Cimineri, AVP for Academic Affairs, Dean of Allied Health Science. 鈥淭he majority of nurses that graduate from HGTC stay and work in our local healthcare systems. The generosity of McLeod Health will better allow the nursing program at HGTC to continue to educate more nurses and help decrease the nursing shortage that is being felt in our communities.鈥
鈥淭his gift is consistent with McLeod鈥檚 mission and values, and from the classroom to the bedside, we know this gift will help students to excel in their studies and provide quality healthcare. Thank you for allowing McLeod Health to give back to our area,鈥 said Mills. 鈥淏ecause nurses are so essential to healthcare and the region鈥檚 economy, this area is fortunate to have this program available to the community.鈥
